This is a very good book!

Classic Elvis : Live 1969

FTD release of Elvis : Live In Las Vegas : August 26, 1969 Dinner Show CD. This CD is in the 5" digi-pack series however it includes a 12- page booklet with liner notes and photos by Ann Moses. The CD is mastered by Vic Anesini from the original stereo multi track tapes. This is Elvis at his best, and in glorious stereo. The midnight show from the same day  has already been released as All Shook Up and finds Elvis in great form, and it's rather special as it's the concert where the laughing version of 'Are You Lonesome Tonight' was recorded.

I would like to say the MRS / JAT Productions release of The Complete Louisiana Hayride Archives 1954-1956 CD is a dream come true but I can't as there was no anticipation something like this would ever be released.  For years now we have had the basic el cheapo compilation of the basic tracks but now we have a full CD with a running time of over 75 minutes that gives a very good overview of Elvis in concert in the 1950s.

Now talking of improved sound, MRS claimed to have speed corrected the newly discovered last Hayride show. I can't specifically notice a speed change, however as much as Ilove the Sony Young Man With The Big Beat 5 CD box set, the version of the concert on it gives me a headache!, the MRS release does not. So there you have it! Altogether a great production : Simply well thought out bring us what there is nicely wrapped in a hardcover with 88 pages of photos of Elvis on stage and an informative text. All 29 tracks therein are re-mastered using the most sophisticated technology. It includes restored and more complete versions of many of the tracks than ever before.

Live On Stage with Sound : 1956

Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley DVD. Digipack with a 16 page booklet. Never before have we seen an Elvis concert from the 50's with sound. Until Now! The DVD Contains recently discovered Unreleased Film of Elvis performing 6 songs, including Heartbreak Hotel and Don't Be Cruel, live in Tupelo Mississippi 1956. Included we see a live performance of the elusive Long Tall Sally seen here for the first time ever. This is an excellent release no fan should be without it. The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents is well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying: Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Sincerely, this is the hottest Presley material I've ever seen. There are several complete songs (Heartbreak Hotel, Long Tall Sally, I Was The One, Don't Be Cruel …) but even the snippets, bits and pieces of I Got A Woman or Hound Dog are fun. The evening show and 1957 footages are nice extras to complete it all, just like the audio section with both 1956 shows and an outstanding interview from 1957.
